CA Sri Lanka upskill future Chartered Accountants with critical skills

With soft skills increasingly becoming important for the career advancement of accounting professionals, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) continued to be at the forefront in training future Chartered Accountants with key skills ranging from innovative thinking to leadership.

At the sixth consecutive Skill Development Programme held recently, a large number of Passed Finalists were imparted with critical skills, which will in turn help them boost their career prospects when they join the corporate world as qualified Chartered Accountants.

The sixth programme took on a hybrid mode, with the first two days of the programme being conducted virtually, and the third and final day of the programme being held as a physical event at the Institute.

The resource personnel who steered the skill development programme comprised of Mr. Mahendra Jayasekara, Managing Director of Lanka Walltiles PLC and Lanka Tiles PLC , Prof. Nalin Abeysekera, Head, Department of Marketing, Faculty of Management Studies, Open University of Sri Lanka  Mr. Rizwan Anise, Director/Chief Officer Strategy, Marcom and New Business Ventures- LIMRA Holdings, Dr. Gayan Jayakody, Senior Lecturer- Postgraduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayawardenepura, , Mr. Kumara Galhenage, General Manager, Group Talent Management, Brandix, Ms. Vishwara Perera, Lecturer at Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce University of Sri Jayewardenepura and Ms. Bernadine Jayasinghe, award winning speaker and a corporate trainer.

During the programme, students were educated on developing strategies to face the post covid challenges, digital disruption & innovative thinking in the new normal, as well as developing marketing strategies, and leadership skills in a post COVID era.

The Passed Finalists were also trained on HR matters, as well as how to develop an attractive CV, important interview tips, personal grooming and how to maximise their career opportunities.
