Top CA Sri Lanka students excel at September 2017 Executive Level exams

Eleven top students of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) recently excelled at the Executive Level I & II examinations held in September 2017, bagging the merit prizes and the subject prizes.

CA student Chamith Sugantha Wijesuriya was adjudged first in order of the merit prize for the Executive Level I, while Chiran Jeewanga Subasinghe came in second and Isuru Sampath Wijenayake came in third.

In the Executive Level II, Sakuni Anuththara Maddumage was adjudged first in order of the merit prize, followed by Akila Nisal coming in second, while Ramya Jothy Ramalingam won the third place.

Seven students, including two merit prize winners won the six subject prizes, with Chiran Jeewanga Subasinghe winning the Financial Accounting & Reporting Fundamentals, while Ashani Sanjula Fonseka won the Management Accounting Information subject. The Fundamentals of Taxation subject was won by Chamith Sugantha Wijesuriya.

Erandi Shashikala Madhushani won the Fundamentals of Law subject, while the Processes Assurance & Ethics subject saw joint winners with both Aruna Dilranga and Kalpanie Wasana Kumari Weerasinghe winning the subject prize. The Commercial Insight for Management subject prize was won by Sureka Madhubashini Sooriyarachchi.

Known for their multi-faceted technical skills and unique business acumen, Chartered Accountants (CAs) produced by CA Sri Lank have gained a reputation as a unique breed of professionals who are globally sought after and are recognized as the brains behind successful businesses, both in Sri Lanka and overseas. Chartered accountants also command respect across the world due to their high professional ethics and values. CAs are also well known to climb the ladder of success faster and hold distinguished corporate positions such as Chairperson, Director, CEO, CFO and Partner, among other high profile positions across diverse sectors in in the business world.

At least 37% of CA Sri Lanka qualified chartered accountants currently hold top positions including President, Partner, Chairperson, Managing Directors, Chief Executive Officers, Chief Financial Officers, General Managers, Vice President, Financial Controllers, Deputy General Managers and Assistant General Managers. Among other top positions CAs are known to hold within the corporate sector are as Audit Managers, Managers of Assurance Services, Directors of Risk Management, Internal Audit Managers and Accountants.

The CA Sri Lanka curriculum which is updated regularly aims at producing highly versatile Chartered Accountants, who possess the ability to steer businesses across all sectors by partnering businesses with sound financial leadership. The curriculum is also designed to ensure that the future chartered accountant goes beyond its traditional financial role and becomes a true partner in business who will create value, enable value, as well as preserve value and report value to the organization they serve.

Students following the CA programme are also offered several exit routes, including that of the Certified Business Accountant (CBA), or as a Certified Senior Business Accountant (CSBA).
