The 33rd National Conference of Chartered Accountants organized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) will be held from 18th to 20th October 2012 and will navigate on the inspiring theme “Winning – Country, Corporate, Citizen.”

As winning becomes increasingly challenging in both a global and local context and with the global economy continuing to be plagued by persistent uncertainties, the 33rd National Conference of Chartered Accountants will explore ways for chartered accountants to counter these challenges and forge ahead winning at all levels.

Held since 1979, the National Conference is among the Institute’s annual flagship events and will be inaugurated on the 18th of October followed by two days of technical sessions at the Water’s Edge, Battaramulla.

Undoubtedly one of the most important events in Sri Lanka’s corporate calendar, this year’s conference will navigate and inspire chartered accountants to take the lead in steering our country, corporates and citizens forward amidst prevalent challenges and complexities.

CA Sri Lanka President Mr. Sujeewa Rajapakse noted that at a national level, winning is imperative to bring about a positive outlook, while reducing volatility in the economic environment, foster prospects to attract more investments, improve regional and global cooperation and thereby a robust economic development in the country.

He noted that winning at a corporate level not only energizes the economy in which it operates, but also creates new business ventures, increased opportunities for growth, which in turn leads to more and better job prospects, while ensuring shareholders enjoy better returns, resulting in increased healthy investments thus helping a nation sustain its development progress despite the challenges.

“Therefore, having identified the importance of winning in today’s context, this year the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka decided to take the lead and inspire our professionals to steer the country and the corporate towards victory,” he added.

This year, the conference will see a total of six technical sessions featuring an eminent panel of highly skilled experts who will identify means of conquering uncertainties that stem from various conditions in achieving desired goals, thereby ensuring ‘Winning’.

Every year the national conference sees an impressive participation of chartered accountants. Last year alone, over 1000 chartered accountants including top business leaders representing leading companies in the country participating at the annual event, thereby making it among the most successful conference’s in recent times.

CA Sri Lanka has been the pioneers in introducing the ‘national conference’ concept to the country.

As the national body of accountants, the Institute is also among the foremost professional organisations in Sri Lanka with approximately 4200 members and 37,000 students, thereby making it one of the largest tertiary education providers in the country.
