Welcome to the CA Sri Lanka - United Kingdom Chapter, a vibrant community that has evolved from the Association of Sri Lankan Chartered Accountants in the UK. Established with a vision on 05th January 1997, the association celebrated its remarkable 25-year journey with a Silver Jubilee event on 25th November 2023.

During this event, Mr. Sanjaya Bandara, the then President of CA Sri Lanka, who was the chief guest, announced the association’s official transition into the CA Sri Lanka - United Kingdom Chapter.

For over 25 years, this association has been a driving force within the Sri Lankan accounting profession in the UK, making commendable strides while supporting and inspiring its members. As proud representatives of CA Sri Lanka in the UK, we are honoured to carry forward this legacy into an exciting new chapter.

Purpose & Mission

We are committed to empowering CA Sri Lanka members worldwide, promoting professional growth, technical expertise, and ethical leadership. By fostering meaningful connections and sharing knowledge, we aim to elevate careers and contribute to the global accounting community.

Our mission is to strengthen the bonds within the CA Sri Lanka community while also supporting education and preserving our cultural heritage. We strive to make a lasting impact on both our members and society, locally and globally.

Key Objectives

• Enhance career development and improve technical, professional, and ethical competencies of CA Sri Lanka members residing in Sri Lanka, the United Kingdom, and overseas through CPD sessions and events.
• Strengthen networking and communication between CA Sri Lanka members in the United Kingdom and CA Sri Lanka, fostering collaboration and support for the benefit of members.
• Provide financial support through scholarships for underprivileged children in Sri Lanka, and thereby contributing to education and societal welfare.
• Facilitate the sharing of knowledge and experiences among Chapter members, CA Sri Lanka, and other overseas Chapters, fostering collaboration, learning, and the exchange of best practices within the global accounting community.
• Represent CA Sri Lanka and address challenges to support the profession and contribute to Sri Lanka’s broader development.
• Explore and facilitate Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO), Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), and professional opportunities for CA Sri Lanka members living in Sri Lanka. 
• Promote the chapter’s growth, visibility, and effectiveness as the representative body of CA Sri Lanka in the United Kingdom.
• Foster Sri Lanka’s culture and heritage through cultural events and activities for members.
• Advocate for professional interests of CA Sri Lanka members and suggest improvements to the profession.

CA Sri Lanka - United Kingdom Chapter AGM

The inaugural AGM of the CA Sri Lanka - United Kingdom Chapter took place on 10th November 2024 at the Sacred Heart Church Hall, Edge Hill, Wimbledon, SW19 4LU.

The event was virtually attended by Mr. Heshana Kuruppu, President of CA Sri Lanka, Mr. Sagara Ranga, Chairman of CA Sri Lanka’s Chapter Engagement & Business Opportunities Committee (CEBOC), and Ms. Lakmali Priyangika, CEO of CA Sri Lanka.

President of the CA Sri Lanka - UK Chapter, Mr. Vimal Perera, welcomed attendees, highlighting the growing presence of Sri Lankan Chartered Accountants in the UK. He emphasised the chapter’s goals of raising the profile of Chartered Accountants, by offering high-quality programs, and leveraging modern technologies such as AI. The president also thanked the chapter's founding members and encouraged networking among the attendees.

Mr. Heshana Kuruppu expressed his excitement about the progress of the UK Chapter, along with the establishment of two new chapters in Ireland and New Zealand, bringing the total number of CA Sri Lanka Overseas Chapters to 10. He stressed that the focus is not just on expanding the number of chapters but on fostering meaningful contributions and connections. He highlighted the importance of networking and collaboration, noting that Sri Lanka’s qualification opens doors to global job opportunities, and encouraged members to support one another, particularly in the KPO and BPO sectors. He thanked the outgoing committee and wished the new executive committee great success.

Mr. Sagara Ranga acknowledged the significant international growth of CA Sri Lanka, with over 30% of members now residing outside Sri Lanka. He highlighted that Sri Lankan Chartered Accountants in the UK have significantly grown in the past couple of years, becoming the third largest member base in the global network. He stressed the importance of cross-border connections and the role of chapters in supporting members’ professional development. He also praised the commitment of senior members and assured full support from the Chapter Engagement and Business Opportunities Committee to help the UK Chapter grow.

The new constitution, approved by the CA Sri Lanka council on 21st August 2024, was formally adopted by members, completing the transition of the Association of Sri Lankan Chartered Accountants in the UK to the CA Sri Lanka - United Kingdom Chapter.

President-elect Mr. Emil Kumar thanked Mr. Kuruppu and Mr. Ranga. He also emphasised the need for fundraising to support students and the importance of connectivity and support within the network. He also thanked President Emeritus Mr. Vimal Perera for his continued contributions and acknowledged the committee and their families. He expressed his gratitude for the enthusiastic response from younger members and promised to plan activities in line with the chapter's objectives.
