The streets of Colombo came alive on Saturday, as the highly anticipated 'Walk the World of Numbers' parade, hosted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka), unfolded from Malalasekera Mawatha to Viharamahadevi Park in Colombo 7.

The grand parade, dedicated to marking International Accounting Day, saw an impressive turnout of Chartered Accountants, Accounting Professionals, and enthusiastic students, who transformed the parade into a joyous spectacle of unity and camaraderie.

The event was inaugurated by the President of CA Sri Lanka, Mr. Sanjaya Bandara, in the presence of Vice President Mr. Heshana Kuruppu, Members of the Council, acting CEO Ms. Lakmali Priyangika, and representatives from other accounting bodies. The colourful parade, symbolising the journey of numbers and the integral role of accountants, set off with an air of excitement and purpose.

As the procession wound its way through the streets of Colombo, it became a visual testament to the collective strength of the accounting community in the country. The parade, a display of unity, highlighted the crucial role accountants play in ensuring financial well-being and upholding the integrity of the profession, not only in Sri Lanka but across the globe.

The grand finale at Viharamahadevi Park was marked by a symbolic gesture, which was the planting of a "Murutha Tree" by Mr. Sanjaya Bandara, an act which embodied the values of growth, stability, and sustainability within the profession. The parade was formally concluded as hundreds of balloons were released into the sky, to symbolise the unity and strength of the accounting profession.
