CA Sri Lanka’s SAB Campus Research Colloquium delves into the impact of contemporary accounting on psychological fortitude
The SAB Campus of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) recently came alive with intellectual fervor as it played host to the SAB Students' Second Research Colloquium (SAB SRC 2023) in early November. The event proved to be a monumental gathering of scholarly minds, fostering an environment of knowledge exchange and innovation.
The colloquium's theme, "Contemporary Accounting Endowment on Developing the Psychological Capital of Resiliency," set the stage for a day of thought-provoking discourse and exploration. It served as a testament to the SAB community's dedication to exploring cutting-edge topics in the field of accounting.
Distinguished guests included Professor Tharusha N. Gooneratne from the Faculty of Management and Finance at the University of Colombo who delivered the keynote. Among the other invitees were Mr. Sanjaya Bandara, President of CA Sri Lanka, Mr. Heshana Kuruppu, Vice President of CA Sri Lanka, Mr. Ashane Jayasekara, Chairman of the Board of Management of SAB Campus, Ms. Lakmali Priyangika, acting CEO of CA Sri Lanka, and Senior Professor Ariyarathne Jayamaha, who served as the Colloquium Chair for SAB SRC 2023.
The colloquium comprised seven key study areas: Financial Reporting, Fraud & Forensic Accounting, Business Ethics & Governance, Audit & Taxation, Finance & Risk Management, SME & Sustainability, and Management Accounting. This structure allowed for a comprehensive exploration of contemporary accounting issues.
A total of 38 presenters, representing diverse backgrounds and perspectives, shared their research findings, creating a valuable platform for SAB undergraduates and academics to disseminate their expertise. Renowned academics, including professors, doctors, and senior faculty members from top universities, moderated the sessions which fostered an atmosphere of vibrant discussion and scholarly exploration.
