At corporate Level as the Corporate Communication (CS3) module, the students have the flexibility of selecting either Cambridge BEC Higher or Local Business English programme. However both have been benchmarked at the same B2 level of CEFR & both are of the same standard.
- Cambridge BEC Higher Programme
The Cambridge Business English Certificate Higher (BEC-Higher) is an internationally recognized qualification and exams are conducted across the globe throughout the year. There are three exams in the Cambridge English: Business Certificates (BEC) suite of exams. Each one is targeted at a different level and Cambridge English: CA Sri Lankan conducts only the BEC Higher course ,the most advanced of these exams since it is the most relevant for the Corporate Level students. The content for each exam is based on everyday work and business tasks and designed to develop students ‘Business English Skills & a Blended Programme is offered for this module.
For CA students, Cambridge English: Business Higher is targeted at Level B2 the third highest level on the CEFR scale. Level B2 is required in demanding professional settings, and achieving a certificate at this level proves that a candidate has reached an advanced level of English.
- Local Business English Programme
The Corporate Communication Local course is offered as a Blended Learning Programme which provides opportunities for students to enhance their Business English skills and competencies necessary to gain both professional and academic success through classroom environment as well as on a virtual platform. All listening tracks/recordings are embedded in the Learning Management System (LMS) and there will be closer interactions between the course book and the online platform. Thus, the current English course has been designed as face-to-face sessions and online learning using English for Specific Purposes (ESP) approach focusing on the Business English in the context of Finance & Accounting. This online course on the LMS has been developed to enhance language skills by providing an array of stimulating activities that are specifically designed to enhance the students’ performance in both academic and professional activities.
Course Registrations
Once a batch is finalized it will be advertised on the CA Sri Lanka website & informed to the students via e-mails. Applications will be called 4 weeks prior to each course. Registration is purely online and students can log in to their CA Student portal to apply for a particular batch. Students will be registered for each course on first-come-first-served basis. They can choose a preferred time slot but in the event of less registration for a particular slot the class will be cancelled and the students will be directed to select another available time slot. At the time of registration the students are expected to make the registration & course fee payments of the programme.
Course Procedure
A placement test will be conducted only for those who are interested (optional) and exemptions will be granted to the students who would score more than 80%.
Accordingly the students will be registered & informed about the class commencement. The lectures would commence subsequently and all classroom sessions are exam oriented and developed in such way to enhance language skills. Maintaining 80% attendance is compulsory for all students.
When should this be completed?
- Corporate Communication (CS3) should be completed at Corporate Level itself before applying for any of the Professional Knowledge course units at Strategic Level.
- Before obtaining the qualification; Certified Corporate Accountant (CCA)
- After successful completion of CS2.
