CA Sri Lanka kicks off Business Plan 2020 with briefing sessions in Colombo and Kandy

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) recently kicked off the Business Plan Competition 2020 by holding briefing sessions in Colombo and Kandy which was attended by 400 students sitting for the GCE Advanced Level examination.

In total, 40 schools from Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara and Kandy participated in the briefing sessions where Senior Lecturer of the Department of Accounting of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura Dr. Roshan Ajward elaborated on the rules and regulations of the competition, and also educated students on how to present an effective business plan, which is an important segment of the local GCE Advanced Level syllabus.

Within a short span of time, the Business Plan Competition has become an important platform aimed at nurturing the entrepreneurial skills amongst the country’s student population.

The briefing session in Colombo brought together around 300 students from 35 schools studying for the GCE AL Examination from the Commerce Stream (English Medium). The event in Colombo was held under the patronage of President of CA Sri Lanka Mr. Jagath Perera, President of Sri Lanka Australia Chamber of Commerce Mr. Kalum De Silva, and Council Member of CA Sri Lanka Mr. Laknath Peiris.

The Strategic Partner of the Business Plan Competition 2020 is the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). The competition organized by CA Sri Lanka is held in association with the Sri Lanka Australia Chamber of Commerce (SLACC).

Ms. Binuri Gunawardena, Ms. Dewni Dayananda, Ms. Arunalie De Alwis and Ms. Gimasha Chandradasa of Musaeus College, Colombo adjudged the champion of the Business Plan Competition 2019 were presented with scholarships from CA Sri Lanka to pursue a career in Chartered Accounting.
