The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) continued to make inroads across the global accounting arena, as it signed yet another Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (AICPA), which aims to strengthen the standing of CA Sri Lanka members internationally.
The MoU signed by Mr. Jagath Perera, President of CA Sri Lanka and Mr. Jim Knafo, Director, Global Alliances — Public Accounting of AICPA in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, paves the pathway for CA Sri Lanka Members to obtain the AICPA International Associate membership.

The agreement will also open up avenues for both professional bodies to collaborate including on Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and the administration of CPA Exams in Sri Lanka.
AICPA is a global body of professional accountants, combining the strengths of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), with 35 offices in 20 countries. It represents 667,000 members and students in public and management accounting.
At the signing ceremony, Mr. Venkkat Ramanan, Regional Vice President - Asia Pacific of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), Mr. Manil Jayesinghe, Vice President of CA Sri Lanka; Mr. Lasantha Wickremasinghe, Immediate Past President of CA Sri Lanka and Mr. Sanjaya Bandara, Member of Council of CA Sri Lanka were also present.
CA Sri Lanka enjoys agreements with some of the world’s top international professional accounting organizations, including the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand (CA ANZ), CPA Australia and Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).
