CA Sri Lanka, CMA Sri Lanka and AAT Sri Lanka accords grand welcome to global accounting body president Ms. Rachel Grimes

Three of the country’s top accounting bodies; CA Sri Lanka, CMA Sri Lanka and AAT Sri Lanka accorded a grand welcome to Ms. Rachel Grimes, President of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) who arrived in the country on a four day official visit.

Ms. Grimes, who heads the global body for the accountancy profession was hosted to a grand welcome dinner by the three accounting bodies which was also attended by top government officials, business leaders and regulatory representatives.

She was welcomed by President of CA Sri Lanka Mr. Jagath Perera, President of CMA Sri Lanka Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala and President of AAT Sri Lanka Mr. Jazri Magdon Ismail at the welcome dinner which was held at the Cinnamon Grand, Colombo on 04th July 2018.

During her stay, she will take part in a series of events organised by the three bodies, as well as meet with top government officials during her stay in Colombo.

Her visit in Sri Lanka signifies the lead role and the recognition given to the Sri Lankan accounting profession in a global scenario. Her visit is also seen as a boost to the ‘Creating a Profession Par Excellence’ - a strategic initiative jointly launched by CA Sri Lanka, CMA Sri Lanka and AAT Sri Lanka, which aims to further strengthen the accounting profession and also ensure Sri Lanka has a sufficient skilled workforce in the country to meet the changing demands of the economy.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka), the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA Sri Lanka) and the Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka (AAT Sri Lanka) are member bodies of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), which is based in New York, USA.
