Gampaha’s Bandaranayake College, Jaffna’s St. John’s College, Kandy’s Mahamaya Girl’s College, Galle’s Richmond College and Kurunegala’s Maliyadeva College recently won the regional rounds to qualify for the Grand Finale of the Business Plan Competition organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) scheduled to be held this month.
A total of 15 teams took part in the Gampaha, Jaffna, Kandy, Galle and Kurunegala regional rounds held recently. The participating schools were; Bandaranayake College, Loyola College, Lyceum International School, Rathnavali Balika Vidyalaya, Holy Cross College, St. John’s College, Mahamaya Girl’s College, Girl’s High School, Dharmaraja College, Trinity College, Kingswood College, Richmond College, Rahula Vidyalaya, Maliyadeva College and Maliyadeva Balika Vidyalaya.
A total of eight teams will compete against each other at the grand finale on 28th March 2018 to win the championship.
The teams that will take part in the grand finale are; Visakha Vidyalaya, Ananda College, St. Benedicts College, Bandaranayake College, St. John’s College, Mahamaya Girl’s College, Richmond College and Maliyadeva College. The winner of the grand finale will fly to Brisbane, Australia to take part in the Blue Shift Case Competition organised by the QUT Business School of the Queensland University of Technology in May 2018.
The competition is an important platform to help encourage GCE Advanced Level students from the commerce stream gain a better understanding on the importance of developing a business plan and thereby helping harness the entrepreneurial skills among future business leaders in Sri Lanka.
The strategic partner of this year’s competition is QUT Business School of the Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, while the competition is organised in association with the Sri Lanka and Australia Chamber of Commerce (SLACC).
