Maris Stella College wins Gampaha regional round at CA Sri Lanka’s 2017 Business Plan competition

Maris Stella College, Negombo won the Gampaha District regional round at the 2017 CA Sri Lanka Business Plan competition, beating several other leading schools in the district to qualify for the grand finale which is scheduled to be held in late March.

Lyceum International School Wattala was adjudged the first runner up, while Ratnavali Balika Vidyalaya became the second runner up.

A total of five schools took part in the Gampaha District regional competition including; Bandaranaike College and Loyola College.

The Business Plan competition organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka brings together a total of 60 teams from across the island with each school team comprising of five students who are sitting for the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination in 2017 August - Commerce Stream (English Medium), and or students who are sitting for the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination in 2018 August - Commerce Stream (English Medium).

The winning team will be chosen at the grand finale, which is scheduled for March 28, 2017 and the winning team will fly to Australia to take part in the Case Competition organized by the QUT Business School of the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia in May this year.

The grand finale will bring together the winning schools of the regional rounds to compete against each other.

At the regional level competition, the panel of judges comprise of university lecturers and industry experts, while at the grand finale, the panel of judges will comprise of university lecturers, representative from the Queensland University of Technology - Brisbane, industry experts and high profile Sri Lankan entrepreneurs.
