CA Sri Lanka - UAE Chapter (‘The Chapter’) was established in 2015 with the affiliation of the Sri Lankan Embassy in Abu Dhabi, the Consulate General office in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, with an ambitious mission aimed at promoting members of CA Sri Lanka are to be one of the highly recognized and most sought world class finance professionals in UAE.

The ceremonial inauguration of the CA Sri Lanka – UAE Chapter was held at the Emirates Ballroom of the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel in Dubai on Friday, 27th March 2015. The event was held under the patronage of Mr. Lasantha Wickremasinghe, Vice President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka), Mr. A.S.K. Senavirathne, Chargé d’ Affaires, Embassy of Sri Lanka, Abu Dhabi and Mr. M.M. Abdul Rahim, Consul General of Sri Lanka, Dubai and Northern Emirates.

United Arab Emirates (“UAE”) is a Constitutional Federation of seven emirates. UAE is the second largest and the most diversified economy in the Arab World and one of the leading emerging markets in the world.

Currently over 100 CA Sri Lanka members are residing in UAE and are holding prominent positions in the diversified industry sectors and the government authorities, among the accounting, finance and managerial professionals in UAE and are highly recognised for their professional skills, integrity and dedication.

The Chapter has being engaged with its members since formation through organising and partnering with several professional and technical sessions conducted by widely recognised and renowned finance and management professionals in UAE, Sri Lanka and around the globe in the form of seminars and training workshops to to enhance and sharpen member professional competencies.

The Chapter also arranging social and sporting events in providing the members the opportunity for social and community interaction in breaking the busy life style in UAE.

The Chapter’s vision, mission and objectives are given below;

Vision

To support the development of our members as global professionals through facilitating continuous professional learning and recognition in business and wider community.

Mission

To be one of the highly recognized and most sought accounting professionals in UAE with world class competencies and integrity.

Objectives

To provide facilities for interaction among members by regular meetings, other events which are useful for the members;

To assist members to update their technical knowledge and skills in order to fulfil their obligations of meeting minimum Continuing Professional Development (“CPD”) requirements set by CA Sri Lanka;

To make representation to the Members’ Council of the CA Sri Lanka on matters of professional interest in the United Arab Emirates and to offer suggestions for raising the standard and status of the profession;

To hold refresher course camps at the convenient centers for the benefit of members of CA Sri Lanka, who recently arrived in the United Arab Emirates;

To explore feasibilities for professional and placement opportunities in the United Arab Emirates for the members of CA Sri Lanka;

To carry out such other objectives as are considered beneficial and in the interest of the members of CA Sri Lanka residing in the United Arab Emirates and the accounting profession in general.

To work closely with the Sri Lankan Missions in the UAE for the betterment of Sri Lankan community in the UAE and in Sri Lanka as a whole.
