CA Sri Lanka, Deakin University signs MOU to develop and foster academic links

In it’s continuing efforts to strengthen it’s standing in the global education arena, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Australia’s Deakin University to develop and foster academic links between both institutions.

The MOU which was signed by CA Sri Lanka President Mr. Lasantha Wickremasinghe and Deakin University’s Executive Dean Mr. M. T. Ewing allows both institutions to develop a framework to enhance their cooperative relationship which will in turn bring mutual benefits to the stakeholders including students of both institutions.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Wickremasinghe said that as a globally recognized professional body as well as one Sri Lanka’s leading tertiary education providers, the institute is taking every effort necessary to enhance it’s standing at an international level.

He said that CA Sri Lanka share close ties with some of the world’s best accounting bodies as well as educational institutes. “We have signed an MOU with Deakin, which is one of Australia’s leading and respected universities, in our efforts to provide our stakeholders with better opportunities. I believe this agreement will pave way for a better standing of our stakeholders, at a global level,” he said.

CA Sri Lanka Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Aruna Alwis said that in its capacity as the national body of accountants, the institute is committed to provide its students and members the best of both professional and academic educational opportunities and therefore the tie up with Australia’s Deakin University is also one such accomplishment in this endeavor.
