The CA Students’ Swimming Meet 2013, organized by the Chartered Accountants Students’ Society was held at the Tamil Union (The Oval) swimming complex on the 3rd of November 2013. The meet comprised of 25m Freestyle, Butterfly, Back stroke, Breast stroke and the 25m relay events. The event was witnessed by a large gathering representing the member firms.
In the women’s category, Tessa Alexandra of EY became the fastest swimmer in the Free style, Back stroke and Butterfly events where as Darshika Jayewardene of EY became the fastest Breast stroke swimmer.
Rehan Jayasekara of Jayasinghe & Company showed an impressive performance in the men’s category by winning the Freestyle, Breast stroke and Butterfly events whereas Praveen Kamalaneson of KPMG was the fastest Back stroke swimmer.
The final event of the day was the men’s and women’s relay events which were keenly contested. The men’s relay was won by the Jayasinghe & Company swimming team, whereas KPMG and EY emerged as the runners up and second runners up, respectively. The women’s swimming team from PwC became the winners of the women’s 25 m relay whereas EY and B. R. De Silva & Company grabbed the second and third places.
The next event in the CA Students’ sports calendar is the Cricket Fiesta scheduled for the 23rd and 24th of November 2013 at the Thurstan College Cricket grounds.
