Saraswati Puja; Tribute to the Goddess of Learning by CA Students’ Society

The inaugural Saraswati Puja organised by the Chartered Accountants Students’ Society was successfully concluded on the 14th of October 2013 at the CA Sri Lanka premises.

The Saraswati Puja is performed in worship and prayer of the Goddess of learning, music and arts. Blessings were invoked on the participants by Kurukkal Mangleswar. The premise was decorated with the vibrant Kolam drawings and other traditional leaf decors. The gathering was served with traditional Hindu-Tamil refreshments and sweet meats at the end of the proceedings.

The event was well attended and amongst the gathering which graced the occasion were the President of CA Sri Lanka; Mr. Sujeewa Rajapakse, Council Members of CA Sri Lanka; Mr. Jagath Perera and Mr. Lasantha Wickramasinghe, Senior Partner of B. R. De Silva & Company; Mr. Nihal De Silva, Partner of BDO Partners; Mr. Tishan Subasinghe and Ms. Sujeewa Munidasa and Ms. Maria Rajendram representing the Student Services division of CA Sri Lanka.

The CA Students’ Society is the student body of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka primarily focusing on Student welfare in both the Academic field and Sports Arena. The society believes that this will be a good initiative going forward in promoting a multi-ethnic student culture along with other religious events such as the Wesak Bhakthi Gee, Christmas Carols and Iftar programme.
