Discover the many benefits of a Degree in (Applied Accounting) at CA Sri Lanka’s open day

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) has organized an ‘Open Day’ for the benefit of prospective students and their parents to help them discover the many advantages of the Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Accounting offered by the institute.

The open day on Sunday, 28th April 2013 conducted at the Institute’s Colombo 7 premises will facilitate students and their parents to get a more thorough understanding on the benefits and the recognition of this degree programme which has also been approved by the University Grants Commission.

CA Sri Lanka staff will educate and elaborate on the significance of the degree programme, while a qualified team from the CA Sri Lanka School of Accounting and Business will be at hand to answer queries of students and parents related to the degree.

The inaugural BSc. in Applied Accounting will commence in June this year and is designed under two separate stages, namely the general degree which can be completed with a period of three years over six semesters or the special degree which can be completed in four years over a period of eight semesters.

The hallmark of the CA Sri Lanka degree programme in applied accounting guarantees to create employable graduates with the required skills, competencies and industry knowledge to fulfill a successful accounting career.

Upon completing the applied accounting degree, students will gain extensive knowledge and the required skills in accounting practices, as this is the only degree programme in Sri Lanka that enables students to gain knowledge in the field of ‘Applied Accounting’.

The programme will be conducted by a fully-fledged faculty comprising of qualified professors, senior lecturers and industry professionals who are experts in the area.

CA Sri Lanka, which was established in 1959 by an Act of Parliament, is one of the largest professional organisations in the country with over 4300 members who are fully qualified chartered accountants with significant percentage of them playing a leading role in the country’s corporate sector in the capacity of chairmen, managing directors, chief executive officers, chief financial officers and directors.

The institute is also one of the largest tertiary education providers in the country outside the university system, with an active student base of over 41,000 who are currently studying the institute’s globally recognized chartered accounting programme.

CA Sri Lanka is the only professional institute at present offering a professional qualification and a degree in the country.

CA Sri Lankan embarked on this landmark initiative in an effort to bridge the growing gap in the dearth of higher education opportunities available in the country.
