The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) this week kicked off an inaugural forum titled ‘Evening with the President’ with its President Mr. Sujeewa Rajapakse engaging hundreds of its members including top chairmen, CEOs, CFOs representing the business world to obtain input on the Institute’s way forward strategy.
The highly interactive evening, which was the first in a series of similar meetings saw detailed presentations by various committee chairmen of CA Sri Lanka, the Institute’s Chief Executive Officer and senior members of the staff who gave an in-depth overview on the future strategy of CA Sri Lanka in its continuing aim to uplift the standards of the institute and the accounting profession
Members who were present from diverse sectors gave their valuable input to the CA Sri Lanka president on a range of initiatives and how the institute can further enhance its facilities and services in keeping with local and global needs.
CA Sri Lanka President, Mr. Sujeewa Rajapakse addressing the members highlighted that in recent years, the Institute had witnessed some major transformations both in quality and quantity.
“While nurturing our members and students, we have to look beyond in our efforts to provide better and enhanced services and facilities for them, who are our primary stakeholder,” he said.
He also stressed that special focus will continued to be given to Small- and medium-sized entities (SMEs) and Small and Medium Practices (SMP) in the execution of the globally accepted International Financial Reporting Standards, which Sri Lanka adopted from January 2012.
Mr. Rajapakse also disclosed that the ongoing curriculum revision of the globally recognized CA Sri Lanka chartered accountancy course which is slated to be completed next year will be positioned with a far sighted vision targeting market demands as ahead as in the year 2020.
Chief Executive Officer of CA Sri Lanka, Mr. Aruna Alwis emphasized that the Institute has also implemented the 5S concept in its continuing efforts to increase productivity within the employees of the institute.
The evening ended on a high note with members appreciating the efforts taken to hold such a forum allowing them to give their feedback on various initiatives taken by the institute.
