Hatton National Bank (PLC) will power the country’s national accounting body, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) with a lead sponsorship for the year 2012.
As one of the country’s premier private sector commercial banks, the lead sponsorship extended to CA Sri Lanka will ensure and assist the Institute in carrying out its numerous educational and professional development activities for the benefit of its students, members and professionals from other sectors.
Mr Rajendra Theagarajah, Managing Director/CEO of Hatton National Bank, speaking at the event stated that HNB is pleased to renew the Lead sponsorship to the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Sri Lanka for the 5th consecutive year. He further stated that CA Sri Lanka being the foremost National Accountancy Body of the country is responsible for setting up of accountancy and auditing standards in the country and HNBs continuous sponsorship support to the Institute emphasizes the importance the bank places in promoting professionalism and best practices in accountancy and auditing. The sponsorship he noted will facilitate the key events planned by the Institute for the calendar year 2012/2013
Welcoming HNB onboard, CA Sri Lanka President Mr. Sujeewa Rajapakse noted that as one of the largest private sector banks in the country, HNB’s continuous patronage over the years as a lead sponsor is an endorsement of the Institute’s mission to serving the society by promoting and developing accounting expertise while ensuring the highest level of integrity and competence.
“I am very pleased to welcome HNB onboard this year too as a lead sponsor and I believe this will be a tremendously beneficial relationship both for HNB and CA Sri Lanka,” Mr. Rajapakse noted.
CA Sri Lanka is one of the country’s largest professional organisations with a membership of over 4200 and a student population of over 37,000 aspiring chartered accountants, making it one of the largest tertiary education establishments in the country outside the university system.
