CA Sri Lanka’s Vindya Cooray brings honour to Sri Lanka

A student of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) has brought honour to her motherland after winning the best presentation award in the SAFA category at the International Conference for CA Students in India recently.

Ms. Vindya Cooray who delivered a thought-provoking presentation titled “Walk the Talk: Presentation and Communication Skills – Complementing the intelligence” to an impressed audience including foreign panelists, judges and aspiring chartered accountants from various parts of the world delved in detail on presentation skills and the importance of acquiring soft skills which compliments the success of a professional.

Ms. Cooray, who has a Bachelor of Business Administration (Sp. Business Economics) with 1st Class Honors from the University of Colombo- Faculty of Management and Finance, is currently awaiting results for the Strategic Level II Chartered Accountants exam of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka.

In October 2008, she was also the “First in Order of Merit” Prize Winner in the Strategic Level I Chartered Accountant Examination of the Institute.

Winner of the Jane M. Klausman “Women in Business Award”- Sri Lanka in 2011, Ms. Cooray was the General Secretary of the Chartered Accountants Students’ Society 2011/12 and the editor of the Practicing Accountants Chartered Students’ Society 2010/11.

She is currently undergoing Strategic Level practical training under SCB Corporate (Chartered Accountants) and lectures in auditing and business communication for professional courses.

Another student of CA Sri Lanka Mr. Janitha Senevirathna also made a presentation during the technical sessions of the conference on the topic ‘Deferred Taxation’.

A total of 13 CA students represented Sri Lanka at the conference held in Nagpur, India.
