Exemptions

Exemptions for 2020 Curriculum

What professional qualifications do CA Sri Lanka accept to award exemptions

What academic qualifications do CA Sri Lanka accept to award exemptions

General

The exemption is defined as the recognition of other professional or academic qualifications and waving off the possible module/s in CA Sri Lanka curriculum based on a formal request by a student/an institution, which means you will start your studies at the right level of your knowledge and skills.

If you already have certain qualifications you may not have to take all of the examinations of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka).

There are several paths to CA Sri Lanka membership and many students undertake prior learning which is equivalent to some CA Sri Lanka examinations. Where appropriate CA Sri Lanka ensures that students' entry points match the knowledge and skills they have acquired through their previous qualifications. The final decision for exemption is based on the discretionary power of CA Sri Lanka. In doing so CA Sri Lanka aims to provide students with the quickest possible route to membership.

All exemptions are available on the basis of qualifications held by students. CA Sri Lanka has prepared a user guide to the exemptions inquiry database, which offers a short step-by-step guide to know what exemptions you may be eligible to claim. If you require any further assistance regarding your exemptions, please contact CA Sri Lanka Registration Division.

When you first register as a student with CA Sri Lanka you should apply for exemptions. If you have gained additional qualifications since you first registered as a CA Sri Lanka student and believe you may be eligible for further exemptions, you can apply for these at any time later.

You must present official proof of qualifications-related documents and the certified copies of professional/academic transcripts or certificates awarded to you with a formal request to the CA Sri Lanka Registration Division.

Following documents are required:

AAT Passed Finalists
- Recommendation Letter
- AAT Results Sheets (all 3 level certificates certified by the AAT Institute)
(Upon the request of Students AAT Institute is issuing the Recommendation Letter and the certified copies of the result sheets)
