Three undergraduates representing the CA Sri Lanka’s School of Accounting and Business (SAB) were adjudged the winning team at the Enterprise Business Simulation Session organised by Australia’s Deakin Business School recently.
The three undergraduates, Ms. Duwarigai Shanmugasundaram, Ms. Azka Rifky and Ms. Dinushki M. V. Herat represented CA Sri Lanka, along with around 15 other teams representing leading educational institutes in the country. The CA Sri Lanka SAB undergraduates were rewarded with Apple IPads for winning the competition.
The session, which was organised by Deakin Business School as part of its events during the Deakin Week in Colombo, gave students a hands-on experience of the business process by using ERP - an organizational systems software used by companies across many industries. During the session, students also learnt about the business transactions using a simulated environment. The programme covered the sales process; the production process to account for production capacity; and the procurement process for delay in delivery and payment.
Through the simulation game, students developed an understanding of the concepts underlying enterprise systems; to experience the benefits of enterprise integration first hand; and to develop technical skills using ERP software.
This session also focused on the use of Integrated Reporting and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Reporting for the purposes of managing organizational legitimacy and community engagement. It also provided an overview of how Integrated Reporting and CSR Reporting within annual reports can assist in future-proofing an organization to meet increasing awareness and demands by stakeholders who are CSR conscious.

CA Sri Lanka’s SAB, more commonly known as the Degree School offers a globally recognized BSc. In Applied Accounting degree, which has also been approved by the University Grants Commission. The CA Sri Lanka undergraduates comprises of both local and foreign students.
The degree is designed to impart quality academic education specific to the existing and emerging requirement of the financial sector and has been developed with the objective of creating employable graduates with the required skills, competencies and industry knowledge to fulfill a successful accounting career, both in Sri Lanka and outside of Sri Lanka.
The CA Sri Lanka degree is also recognized internationally by CPA Australia, one of the world’s largest accounting bodies, which has recognized the degree as an entry qualification to gain entry into the CPA programme as an Associate Member, while one of Australia’s top universities, La Trobe University, allows CA Sri Lanka degree school undergraduates who have completed two years of the BSc. Applied Accounting degree in Sri Lanka, to enter into a specialized scheme allowing students to complete their undergraduate degree and get preferential entry through a streamlined process to complete a Master’s degree.
