CA Sri Lanka powers Future Minds 2016 with Platinum Sponsorship

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka), the country’s unprecedented leader in professional accounting education, will power the 2016 Future Minds Expo with a Platinum Sponsorship.

Future Minds, the national higher educational and career exhibition will be held in BMICH, Colombo from June 17 to 19, Kandy City Centre on June 25, 26 and Town Hall, Galle on September 03 and 04, 2016.

This is the third time, CA Sri Lanka is supporting the exhibition with a sponsorship, while it’s the first instance the institute is powering the Future Minds Expo with a Platinum Sponsorship. CA Sri Lanka is the national body of accountants, and is also one of the country’s largest and leading tertiary education providers with a student population of over 44,000 aspiring chartered accountants.

President of CA Sri Lanka, Mr. Lasantha Wickremasinghe said that globally recognized qualification offered by the institute is structured in a manner which produces not only chartered accountants who are technically competent, but also possess the necessary skills to give leadership across the corporate sector in the country.

“Our chartered accountants are no longer limited to the traditional number crunching roles, they are today business leaders. At least 35 percent of our members, are Presidents, Partners, Chairmen, Managing Directors, Chief Executive Officers, General Managers, Chief Financial Officers, among other high profile designations,” he said.

CA Sri Lanka members are also internationally mobile, with a significant percentage serving across 42 countries including in Australia and the Pacific, Asia including the Middle East, Africa, Europe and America.

Mr. Wickremasinghe also encouraged more students from the science and maths streams to join the CA Sri Lanka programme. “There is a misconception that only commerce stream students who can be chartered accountants. Today our members hail from maths, science, arts and commerce, and they are enjoying successful careers,” he said.

Chief Executive Officer of CA Sri Lanka, Mr. Aruna Alwis stressed that apart from the institute’s benchmark qualification in chartered accounting, CA Sri Lanka also offers various other programmes including a BSc. Degree in Applied Accounting, which has been approved by the University Grants Commission, a Master’s Degree from the University of Southern Queensland and several executive diplomas and postgraduate diplomas, all which aim to create a fully-fledged professional who is well versed in their respective fields.

“CA Sri Lanka is the only professional organization in the country, which offers both a recognized professional qualification as well as a degree in accounting,” Mr. Alwis added.
