Students who are looking to pursue a successful accounting and finance career, can now apply for the March 2016 intake of the highly reputed Bachelor’s Degree programme in Applied Accounting offered by the country’s foremost professional organisation, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka).
Students who have successfully completed the local GCE Advanced Level or the London Advanced Level (Edexcel/Cambridge) examinations with three passes can register for the degree programme. Additionally, professionals who are employed and have fulfilled the basic entry requirements can also follow the degree programme on a part time basis
The CA Sri Lanka BSc. in Applied Accounting degree programme is approved by the University Grants Commission and is also equivalent to the Degrees offered by the state universities in Sri Lanka.
The BSc. Applied Accounting degree, which is conducted in Colombo, offers students recognition both in Sri Lanka as well as overseas, apart from a very promising career in the field of accounting.
The degree is designed to impart quality academic education specific to the existing and emerging requirement of the financial sector and has been developed with the objective of creating employable graduates with the required skills, competencies and industry knowledge to fulfill a successful accounting career, both in Sri Lanka and outside of Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, the students who follow CA Sri Lanka’s BSc. Degree in Applied Accounting also have the added advantage of interning for a period of one year with leading companies in the country.
The Internship and skills development component helps students reach their full potential as they pursue their training at prestigious firms in the country, while also gaining sufficient practical exposure in technical areas and professional skills.
The BSc. in Applied Accounting degree also offers a range of exemptions for CA Sri Lanka, CIMA, ACCA, AAT and SLIATE HND qualifications.
The CA Sri Lanka degree programme has also received endorsements from leading universities and professional organisations abroad, with Australia’s La Trobe University and CPA Australia entering into a partnership with CA Sri Lanka. The accreditation allows students who have completed the BSc. (Applied Accounting) degree programme to gain into the CPA programme as an Associate Member of CPA Australia, while La Trobe University allows students who have completed two years of the BSc. (Applied Accounting) degree in Sri Lanka, to enter into a specialized scheme allowing students to complete their undergraduate degree and get preferential entry through a streamlined process to complete a Master’s degree. This scheme has an option of providing students with post study work rights (PSWR) Australia.
Registrations are currently open for the March 2016 intake, which is offered both on a full time and part time basis.
