Top students of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) recently bagged the top prizes at the Certificate in Accounting and Business (CAB) examinations held in September 2014.
Accordingly, the M. F. Mohamed Fahim Inshan won the first prize in order of merit at the CAB I exam, while U. M. Susanthika Nelum Kumari Ulpange won the second prize in order of merit, followed by Laveena Sukumaran won the third place.
In the CAB II exam, the first prize in order of merit was won by S. P. Rashmika Madushan De Silva, while H. Wasana Sandamali Jayamanna won the second prize in order of merit. The third prize in this category was won by H. Harshana Sameeraka.
The Financial Accounting subject prizes of the CAB I exam was won by Maleesha Shalani Singaneththi, while the Business Mathematics and Statistics subject prize was won by U. M. Susanthika Nelum Kumari Ulpange. The Management and Business Economics subject prize was shared between three students; M. M. Fathima Muzna, M. M. D. Ayesha Dhananjanie and Vimansa Nethmini Vithanawasam.
Meanwhile, under CAB II exam, S. P. Rashmika Madushan De Silva and B. M. Dilshan Mineshka shared the subject prize for Fundamentals of Management Accounting and Business Finance. S. P. Rashmika Madushan De Silva also bagged the subject prizes for Information Management as well as for the Audit and Assurance subjects.
The Accounting Applications and Taxation subject prize was won by H. Wasana Sandamali Jayamanna and K. G. Vijini Sena.
The new CA Sri Lanka curriculum which came into effect from this year is aimed at producing highly versatile chartered accountants for 2020 and beyond who will help steer businesses across all sectors with their unique competence and multifaceted skills.
The new curriculum which meets international standards including global qualification requirements laid down by the International Federation of Accountants in its International Education Standards, was developed to ensure that the future chartered accountant goes beyond its traditional financial role and becomes a true partner in business who will create value, enable value, preserve value and report value to the organization they serve.
CA Sri Lanka qualified Chartered Accountants play a significant role across the corporate sector with over 36 percent of the 4600 CA Sri Lanka members holding top corporate positions including that of Chairman, Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer, General Manager, Chief Financial Officer, and Financial Controller, among other high profile positions.
