Young Chartered Accountants Forum (YCAF)

Established in 2009, the Young Chartered Accountants Forum (YCAF) was the brain child of a group of dynamic members who strived to create a platform for the younger members of CA Sri Lanka.

Today, YCAF operates as part of the Institute with a unique constitution. Its management committee, the “YCAF governing council” is composed of “governors” who are below forty years of age. YCAF is a self-funded organization and apart from the finances generated through its fund raising activities, the Forum welcomes donations from CA Sri Lanka and its well-wishers.

Purpose and Objectives

The purpose of Y-CAF is to uplift the quality of the Chartered Accountants of CA Sri Lanka while endeavoring to enhance the public image of Chartered Accountants.

The following sets out the objectives to achieve the broad purpose of YCAF,

  1. To be a facilitator, creator and a developer of the entertainment and recreational activities of the members of CA Sri Lanka in order to improve fellowship among members of CA Sri Lanka.
  2. To provide a platform for young Chartered Accountants to develop their leadership and entrepreneurial skills.
  3. To create opportunities for young Chartered Accountants, to build up a close relationship with the Institute and its activities and also to encourage them to develop their network in the field of their own profession and other communities.
  4. To provide assistance to the members and Council of CA Sri Lanka on various needs and requirements that they may require from YCAF.
  5. To assist the students of CA Sri Lanka to build a relationship with young Chartered Accountants through guiding and facilitating their educational and other activities.

Governing Council and its Composition

There shall be a Governing Council of Y-CAF, it’s called “Y-CAF Governing Council”.

Composition

From the second term onwards (2012/13), the Governing Council shall consists of ten elected members, immediate past president and the vice president, CEO / Secretary of CA Sri Lanka and two members appointed by the Council of the CA Sri Lanka.

The Vice President of the previous term will become the President for the present term and the Vice President for the present term would be decided from the ten elected governors with the majority decision of the Y-CAF Governing council.

Appointing of the Governing Council

The Governing Council shall be in office for two years from the date of appointment or elected and thereafter, except for the post of President and Immediate Past President, and two members appointed by the Council of CA Sri Lanka, all other members to the Governing Council shall be appointed at the general assembly of members, based on the nominations given by the “Nomination Selection Committee”. The existing members of the governing council shall have rights of applying for reappointment as governors without referring their applications to the nomination selection committee.
