The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) will host the Board Meeting of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) on 21st January 2014 in Colombo.
The SAFA meeting hosted by CA Sri Lanka will be followed by the annual SAFA Assembly, which will be graced by Mr. Warren Allen, President of the International Federation of Accountants, who will be in Sri Lanka on a four day visit commencing 20th January 2014 on the invitation of CA Sri Lanka.
SAFA is the Apex Body of the South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC) and a Regional Grouping of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC). SAFA consists of the institutes of chartered accountants and the institutes of cost & management accountants in the SAARC countries who have joined together with the objective of developing the accountancy profession in the region.
CA Sri Lanka in its capacity as a founding member of SAFA hosted the 26th Board Meeting and several other high level meetings in Colombo in 2013.
CA Sri Lanka members play an active role in various committees of SAFA, with several members of the Institute also heading important committees in the regional body. The Vice President of SAFA is the incumbent President of CA Sri Lanka, Mr. Arjuna Herath.
