In yet another pioneering effort aimed at offering intellect and insights for the benefit of the accounting and finance professionals in the country, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) recently unveiled ‘The Abacus’ – the official magazine of the institute.
The Abacus which succeeds the institute’s more archaic Chartered Accountant journal is published on a quarterly basis and is packed with an interesting line up of articles featuring some of the country’s leading chartered accountants who steer mega businesses across Sri Lanka, apart from a series of features covering current affairs, business, technical input to even light pieces on travel, making The Abacus an interesting read.
The Abacus is overseen by a versatile Editorial Team comprising of several CA Sri Lanka members including the Institute’s President Mr. Sujeewa Rajapakse, Vice President Mr. Arjuna Herath, Chief Executive Officer Mr. Aruna Alwis and CA Sri Lanka Members Mr. Gerard J David, Mr. Channa Manoharan and Ms. Coralie Pietersz.

Speaking on the launch of The Abacus, CA Sri Lanka President, Mr. Rajapakse noted that innovation is important if one is to enjoy success in today’s constantly changing world.
“The birth of The Abacus is one among many steps in our continuing journey to provide our members and all our stakeholders with the latest and the best,” he said.
Mr. Rajapakse noted that apart from its standing as the torch bearers of the accounting profession, CA Sri Lanka has also been recognized as the catalyst for change in the professional realm.
“Our institute has always taken on the responsibility to provide guidance to help uplift the professional standards practiced in Sri Lanka both within and outside the accounting sphere, and through The Abacus we can communicate the latest trends both local and global for the benefit of our stakeholders,” he added.
Chief Executive Officer of CA Sri Lanka, Mr. Alwis noted that The Abacus will be an important platform for the expression of independent and critical thought on matters of current academic and professional interest in accounting, finance and business.
“The journal will be used as an important platform to increase awareness among all stakeholders, including CA Sri Lanka members and others from accounting, finance and business on matters pertaining to their professional interest,” he added.
